There are some awkward scenes in Tuesday night’s episode of The Bachelors Australia, as contestant Jessica introduces her Bach-match Felix … to her boyfriend.
Bachelors contestant Jessica Navin has already rocked the rest of the cast with the news she’s in an open relationship and has a boyfriend, Damien, at home.
In this preview of tonight’s episode, Damien visits the Bach mansion, and has more than one sit-down conversation with Felix, the man his girlfriend is competing to date.
By the time the trio sit down for a group lunch with the other Bachelors and contestants, it’s all anybody can talk about.
“When we found out that someone was coming, I was hoping it was going to be you,” Felix tells Damien, as the others do their best to eavesdrop. “It’s so foreign to me as a concept … it’s obviously an uncomfortable thing to wrap my head around.”
It’s uncomfortable for the other contestants too, who fume that their group date is being overshadowed by Jessica and her pre-prepared boyfriend.
“The whole group date was essentially about Damien, Jess and Felix – it was not what I expected, to be honest,” Zara says.
“Everyone’s a bit like, ‘What’s going on?’ There’s a time and a place and it’s not here, because everyone has lost time with the guy they’re here to get to know,” Alesia says.
Even fellow Bachelor Jed struggles to get his head around the situation, looking on from the other end of the table.
“Am I understanding this correctly? Is Damien Jessica’s partner?” he whispers to one of the contestants.
The cracks start to show when one contestant, Abigail, decides to test the boundaries of Jessica and Damien’s open relationship. Over lunch, and with Jess and Felix seated next to her, she asks Damien if his goal is to be in a “one-person” relationship.

“Yes,” he says, “100 per cent. I love and cherish the idea of standing in front of the people I love most in the world and promising myself to someone. ‘It’s me and you versus everyone else.’
“At the end of the day, I want Jess to choose me,” he says.
